On the image: the city of Vladimir, Vladimir Region, Russia

The image of the central and southern part of the city of Vladimir was received on September 12, 2017 from Pleiades-1A satellite.

Vladimir is an ancient Russian city, located 200 km east of Moscow.

The oldest central part of Vladimir is located on the high left bank of the Klyazma River, on the hills descending to the river, separated by deep ravines.

The image shows the historical part of the city, in particular, Uspensky and Dmitrievsky cathedrals — outstanding monuments of white stone architecture of pre-Mongolian Rus’, built in the second half of the 12th century. Uspensky Cathedral is one of the few churches in Russia, where the painting of the work of Andrei Rublev was preserved.

At present, the population of Vladimir is more than 356 thousand people.
